Ardistan Sled Works

I won't be building any sleds for this winter (2004), its already too late for this season and I have plenty of home renos to do first!! I'll probably start putting things together to rough out materials during the summer and build during late fall.

I have built 23 sleds and toboggans to date. The learning curve has been spectacular! I love to build them but the drought of the past couple of years has virtually killed the market. I have not built one in three years now! But there's snow out there! Maybe business'll pick up!

Pictured above is the most popular model for recreational teams of 2 to 6 dogs. The bed can be either four or five feet long.  This model is constantly under revision as new ideas come along.  The current version is somewhat different from the one shown here.  The main difference being a cross bar for hanging a sled bag and snow hook and a flatter handle bow across the top. $700.00 and up.

My one and only sprint sled.  Ran like a dream, but I had to sell it at a time when some vet bills had come in and my back yard was beginning to look like a sled parking lot!  I would like to build more, but they are very specific and low in demand. Cost to be determined by order- $800.00 to$1000.00

This one, for Rob Carss, went to the '98 Iditarod.  Unfortunately, Rob had to pull out early on and so never got to run it in the race.  However, Rob says his test drives have been wonderful and it runs very well.  The sled incorporates aluminum rail runners, lashed basket/bed to the underside of the crossbars and a one piece brushbow and front end stretcher.  I'm sure more improvements will come along.
